It is a global initiative curated to develop the next generation of transformative leaders by enabling highly talented, service-minded young people to pursue higher education and develop their leadership potential. The MasterCard Foundation Scholars Program is committed to enabling young people to access higher education, succeed in the world of work, and grow as transformative leaders.

University of Cape Town MasterCard Foundation Scholars Program Benefits
The Program insulate the full duration of your UCT study program. It is renewable annually, subject to satisfactory academic performance and personal conduct, and participation in development programs and activities that form part of the MasterCard Foundation Scholars Program at UCT.
Meanwhile, here are some key benefits which are as follows:
- Comprehensive financial support including tuition fees, a laptop, accommodation on UCTโs campus, living expenses, medical assistance, a study visa (if applicable) and annual travel to and from UCT for your chosen study programme.
- You will have access to excellent teaching and transformative and socially engaged education, aiming to unleash your potential to contribute to creating a just and equitable society through the educational programme you choose.
- The MasterCard Foundation Scholars Program furnishes academic and peer support to ensure your academic development, growth, and success. The MasterCard Foundation Scholars Program at UCT also includes a series of skills programs aimed at developing:
- Your entrepreneurial and career readiness skills;
- Your abilities as an ethical and transformational leader; and
- Your ability to continue to contribute to your community.
Applicants will be expected to join a network of lifelong changemakers as part of the MasterCard Foundation Scholars Alumni Network upon graduation from their UCT study program.
